Orange Christian School is a Prep – Year 12 school on Cecil Rd, Orange

Orange Christian School is a vibrant, non-denominational Prep – Year 12 school located in the Central West region of NSW. OCS is an ideal place where your child can grow, learn and thrive in a dynamic environment, with space to run and fresh air to breathe!

At OCS, your child will learn in an atmosphere where they are seen, known and valued as individuals made by God. We partner with you to help raise children who think creatively, try new things and grow into people of Godly character.

Orange Christian School Prep 4-year-old School readiness program was the perfect transition for our daughter into Kindergarten. She was exposed to a real classroom environment in a fun and age-appropriate way, and it made ‘big school’ a lot less daunting. It was an obvious and easy decision to continue her through into Kindergarten at OCS. The relationships she’d built with the other children in Prep going through, and the continuity of care that the school provides in the transition gave her a safe and enjoyable start to her school life.

Meet Mr Yooie Choi, Orange Christian School Principal.

Welcome to Orange Christian School. At our school you will find a caring school community, who support the school to bring God’s great message of faith, hope and love to young people.

In a world where social media has tremendous influence, our school gets back to basics and looks to biblical principles to lay a firm foundation for life. We want our students to grow and develop their God given potential, their relationship with God, and live with purpose.

Our families and students are navigating complex issues that were not present in previous generations. In an ever increasingly complex technological world, beset by a steady stream of bad news, our young people need guidance, more than ever, to discern what is true, what is beautiful, what is good and right, to find hope and meaning in our world.

Our school takes this character and faith formation in young people seriously.. Through our C.H.R.I.S.T values (Compassion, Humility, Respect, Integrity, Strength, Truth) we develop classroom and outdoor learning experiences that spark motivation, promote engagement, form positive relationships, and a growth mindset.

On top of this, we carefully craft our classroom learning experiences to promote enjoyment for learning and celebrate academic growth. We want our students to focus on their character and base their morality on the principles of the Bible, so that they can become resilient and make wise decisions. Above all, we want our students to be caring towards one another like the Good Samaritan, so that throughout their life they can be ‘salt and light’ in their community.

If any of this resonates with you, then I welcome you to visit our school, meet with me and see for yourself. I also commend to you our school’s Strategic Directions (2024-2028) that outlines the exciting plan for our school. Together with our dedicated and caring staff, and our school community, we look forward to walking the educational journey with you and your child.

God bless,

Yooie Cho

Established by parents, for parents

Overseen by a Board dedicated to Christ-focused learning, OCS was originally founded in 1981 by a group of local parents who believed that an excellent Christian education was built on solid parent partnerships.

These parents approached Christian Education National (CEN) for help to start a school where a rigorous academic curriculum could be taught by Christian staff, with a Christian worldview.

Our vision is to raise up effective leaders of Godly character who will blend academic achievement and biblical truth, to influence society for the glory of God.

The first Orange Christian School classes were taught to 17 students in buildings at the Church of Christ in Orange. Enrolments, staff and facilities increased and through God’s goodness, the current site was purchased in 1988. Classes began at our current Cecil Road location with 123 students in September 1989.

Since then, Orange Christian School has acquired adjacent properties and land to increase the facilities we offer. Our existing site incorporates 11 hectares which has allowed for generous playing and sports fields, a commercial kitchen and café, fully equipped construction workshop, drama and stage facilities, gymnasium, indoor sports courts, purpose-built classrooms, Learning Hub and more.

Students learn in an environment where they are valued as individuals created by God, with gifts, talents and abilities also given by Him. We aim to provide a supportive and nurturing environment, where every child is challenged to think creatively, work wholeheartedly and embrace a growth mindset.

We thank God for our school’s growth, and we’re incredibly grateful for the vision and commitment of those pioneering parents. Equally, we appreciate our current families, staff and students for their continued dedication and commitment to seeing the OCS mission in action.

Our mission is, in partnership with parents, to provide affordable education that brings honour and glory to God. OCS gives each child a Christ-centred education as a complete person created by God in His image academically – to see the world from God’s view; spiritually – to view themselves in relation to God; and socially – to see others as God sees them.

Education is more than just facilities and obtaining good grades. It is about developing Godly character in order to face life’s challenges. We inherently believe each child is created intricately by God, gifted with the skills and abilities they need to make their unique contribution to the world, no matter how small or big.

Our role is to provide opportunities for each child to explore the wonders of creation, encourage them to delve into interests and causes that set their soul on fire, and pursue them with every fibre of their being, all to the glory of God.

Many of our former students come back to OCS with little ones in tow when they become parents, or even grandparents. Across Orange and the surrounding districts, there are generations of families who have chosen and entrusted Orange Christian School as their choice when it’s time to educate their own children.
