Discover interests beyond the classroom

At OCS, we know that some of the most valuable learning happens beyond the classroom. That’s why our co-curricular program isn’t just an optional extra—it’s a key part of how we nurture well-rounded, capable young people. With a strong emphasis on excellence, our programs are designed to stretch and inspire students as they grow in confidence, skill and character.

Whether they’re competing on the sports field, performing on stage, debating big ideas or working as part of a team, students are encouraged to give their best. These experiences help them build resilience, deepen friendships and discover new strengths—all in a supportive environment where high standards and personal growth go hand in hand.

We’re intentional about creating opportunities that allow every student to explore their interests, pursue excellence, and prepare for life beyond school with purpose and passion.

Easing the transition

Our Prep children are given the opportunity to interact and familiarise themselves with the rest of the school regularly with trips to our Bembooka Cafe and the Learning Hub, as well as involvement in our Primary school musicals, Primary assemblies and end of year Thanksgiving Celebrations. This regular interaction helps to ease the transition into big school for the children and there is a notable difference in the settled nature of those that went through our Prep program and those who didn’t when it comes time for Kindergarten.

Extensive opportunities to complete a holistic education

Primary and Secondary School students have a variety of co-curricular activities to broaden their educational experience beyond the classroom walls. These include opportunities in music, drama, sport and community service.

Our STAR (Students Taking an Active Role) homework centre is a safe, structured environment where students from Years 5-12 can study and complete homework and get the support they need from qualified staff. Importantly for senior students, we see a clear correlation between participation in STAR and improved HSC performance, with all our top scoring students in the HSC having accessed STAR regularly throughout their schooling.

Students from Prep to Year 12 are immersed in a rich and high calibre music program that nurtures artistic excellence, teamwork and personal growth. Ensemble opportunities include Primary and Secondary choirs, Stage 4 Band, Secondary Concert Band, Drum Corps, String Orchestra, Chamber Ensembles, and Worship Band, each designed to challenge students and foster collaboration across year levels.

Our annual school musical is a highlight of the co-curricular calendar, alternating each year between Primary and Secondary productions. The Primary musical, involving students from Prep to Year 6, is a joyful celebration of creativity and community providing talented students in Years 3-6 and opportunity to audition for and take on lead roles. The Secondary musical is a professionally staged production in the Orange Civic Theatre, offering students a transformative experience that builds advanced artistic skills and fosters deep collaboration.

For those students who have a passion for sport, there are plenty of opportunities to hone their skills by participating in carnivals with representative pathways all the way up to a National level, private dance tuition, and Gala days for a large range of team sports. Students that show particular skill and aptitude for their chosen sport no matter what it is can be involved in our TAP (Talented Athlete Program) that is by selection only with particular criteria carefully considered including continued academic rigour, and personal character as well as individual sporting ability. If selected, the program offers fitness and nutrition coaching, one on one time with industry professionals, targeted training and plenty more.
