From the Coordinator
Welcome to the Middle School Messenger in 2019
Apologies for the technical difficulties that led to a delay in publication.
We have launched into the year and Middle School is going full steam ahead.
The students have made a fantastic start to the year. They have settled quickly and adjusted to changes such as new rooms, new teachers, new work to do and new friends in their year group.
We want to welcome all the new families who have joined OCS in 2019. We pray that you will settle quickly to your new school and we look forward to partnering with you in the years ahead. We also welcome Mr Christian Dietiker on S3D to teach our new Stage 3 class and Mr Phil Snitch who is joining us as Sports Coach in 2019.
Already Stage 3 are deep into their work of Mathematics, Science and English. There is a real buzz of steady work in H Block that speaks of students committed to their learning and working hard.
Stage 4 are into planning and preparation for their Six Foot Track Expedition. Notes have been sent home and I know parents are already seeking time off to join us. The students have also made a great start to the year in their learning.
Please join us on Tuesday February 12 for the 6 Foot Track Volunteer meeting followed at 7 pm by the Middle School information evening.
And don’t forget SCHOOL PHOTO DAY – Wednesday February 13.
Mr Adrian Lee
Middle School Coordinator

Year 6 Buddies
Year 6 are off to a great start this year with their little Kinder buddies, eating lunch with our new Kinder students on their first day of school.
Six Foot Track
Stage 4 head off in Week 6 to the SIX FOOT TRACK EXPEDITION.
This fantastic camp is a wonderful experience of challenge and team building. Students plan and prepare menus and have to cook their own meals in teams with camp stoves. We walk the track from the Explorer’s Tree to about half way to Jenolin Caves. Swim in the Cox’s River and cross the suspension bridge.
Many parents have joined us in the past for this brilliant and tough experience. If you would like to be on eof them please return the forms attached with the notes sent home last week.
There is a Parent Volunteer Meeting in the Staff Room before the MS Information Night on Tuesday 12 Feb.
In accordance with relevant legislation any parent accompanying an overnight camp MUST have a valid Working With Children Number that has been verified by the school. Information for obtaining the WWCC is on the note. Please contact the School Front Office if you have any questions.

OCS School Stream App – Log in Now!
Many parents have been singing the praises of School Apps for quite a while. After lots of discussions, parent focus groups, App trials by staff and parents and training sessions with App providers, we are pleased to announce that the OCS School Stream App is up and running!
Please follow the instructions below to log onto the App. In order for this to be an effective tool for communication we obviously need as many members of the OCS community as possible to have the App on their device(s). Currently we have over 50% of school families on board and we are looking forward to seeing this figure sky rocket over this next week. At present we will be using the App to communicate regarding: Forms, Notes, Newsletters and Reminders.
Please contact the Front Office should you have any questions about our exciting journey into digital communication, and many thanks to all of the parents who have helped us to move in this direction.
We are excited to welcome Phil Snitch to Orange Christian School.
Phil has been attached to OCS for the past 2 years, mainly in the area of music. You may recall his leadership of the Beginner Band for the CEN Music Festival in 2018.
This year Phil has opened another page of his book by accepting the OCS Sport Coach position. Phil trained as a PDHPE teacher with a Bachelor of Human Movement from CSU. He spent a number of years as the sports master at The Scots School in Bathurst before opening his own personal training business and gymnasium.
He has coaching levels in athletics, gymnastics and rugby, and has coached many other sports, including soccer and water polo, at both school and representative levels.
Phil will continue to tutor band and choir and with some private lessons as well. Phil and his family live in Bathurst.
We welcome Phil to OCS as our new Sports Coach.
