Early Tuesday morning, nine intrepid students will head to University of Newcastle with Mr Follent to participate in the National Mars Rover Challenge. The ‘challenge’ involves coding a robotic ‘Mars Rover’ vehicle to find its own way through a maze and complete some ‘missions’ while in the maze. The team have been busy mastering the basics of a new programming language (Python), developing and testing code for the Rover and learning lots along the way.
They will spend Tuesday afternoon at the University focussed on completing final preparations and then testing and tweaking their code. Then they will participate in the Challenge day with teams from many other schools throughout Wednesday. All going well, we hope to have some updates from the team along the way.
Go well, OCS Mars Rover Challenge Team!
