There’s a lot of STEAM going on at OCS this week!

On Tuesday, the Shell Questacon Science Circus will be at our school, putting on 3 shows for our students in Years K-2, 3-6 and then 7-10. This travelling Science Circus involves lively and practical presentations by science graduates completing their Master of Science Communication Outreach, and is a long-standing partnership between Questacon, Shell and the ANU. On Thursday afternoon, teachers from OCS and other Orange schools will also benefit from a Shell Questacon professional development workshop on ‘Hands On Science Activities’.

On Thursday, Year 10 students from OCS will be heading to the CSU campus in Bathurst to participate in the Science and Engineering Challenge! This is a nationwide STEM program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with CSU, other universities, Rotary clubs and sponsors. The students experience aspects of Science and Engineering they won’t normally see at school, and the program aims to inspire Year 10 students to consider a future career in Science and Engineering as a way to make a positive difference in the world.
