Ben French (Year 9) has been selected to attend the Koori Rugby League Academy, a camp that will run 18-24 October in Sydney.
The camp is run by the Aboriginal Learning Centre, with Campbelltown TAFE and NSWRL.
Ben will join approximately 60 Under 16 boys and approximately 30 girls at Warwick Farm and Narrabeen Sports Academy. The week will cover three units of a Certificate II in Fitness, preliminary to further work with the students to complete the Cert II.
It will also cover what it takes to be a professional rugby league player, and will feature visits from professional players who will talk about life in football.
The camp will culminate in a match on 23 October, which will be attended by selectors for a NSW Under 16 team to take on Queensland in a curtain-raiser for the All-Stars (Indigenous) Rugby League match against the All-Stars (Non-Indigenous) in February next year.
Ben will be notified at the end of November on the outcome of the selection match.
All the best Ben – have a great time next week.
