What a great start to term 3! We began with a chess competition and Robocup; we moved onto the zone athletics carnival and announcing the cast for Dr Doolittle, and then welcomed so many parents and families through the gates for parent teacher meetings last week. All this and we are only in week 3!
Busyness, however, is not always a measure of substance. We do need to take care that we don’t confuse one for the other. I know that all of us at times can find ourselves just too busy and often even lose the joy in the journey because of this. I want to suggest, therefore, that as we train our children to be leaders of godly character, we train them to be purposeful, rather than busy; to identify that which God is leading them towards and to press towards this wholeheartedly. As parents we need to guide and nurture them along this path, to ensure that they select the best activities to be involved in, and to model our purposefulness to them.
With this in mind, I would like thank you for your attendance at the recent Parent Teacher meetings. We pray that this time was purposeful and worthwhile. These meetings form the second part of the reporting process here at OCS. They are the times where teachers prepare to have a purposeful discussion with you about your child and his/her learning. It is the time when the conversation is centred on explaining your child’s learning from semester one and preparing them well for semester two. I pray that you also found them welcoming and would invite you to share any feedback you believe would be of benefit to us. If you were not able to attend during these meeting times, please feel free to contact the school to arrange a more suitable time for this discussion.
Praying that you have a blessed week,
