Orange Christian Schools Ltd Association
Orange Christian Schools Limited is an incorporated limited liability Public Company referred to as The Association. Orange Christian Schools Limited operates two schools Orange Christian School and Bathurst Christian School. Membership is open to those who wish to promote the schools and Christian education and who are active in a local church. Nomination is required by an existing Association member, together with a reference by an existing Board member. A membership fee of $22.00 per person per year, or $33.00 per couple (including GST) per year applies and is payable at the time of lodgment of the application.
Parents are invited to prayerfully consider joining the Association. This matter is not to be taken lightly. It was through this Association that parents and friends investigated the formation of Orange Christian School in the early 1980's and today we see how God has blessed that vision. The character of the schools depends on new Association members catching the vision of the founding members and carrying it forward.
A Board of 9 is elected from the Association members at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held in March each year. Board members are elected for a three year term with one third retiring annually. It is the responsibility of this Board to interview and appoint staff, purchase land and establish buildings and the necessary facilities in which a school can function, and to oversee the finances and administration of the Schools. The Board members meet monthly and routinely discuss, with the Principal, progress and problems in the daily life of the schools. Time is spent in prayer commending to God the children, teachers and parents of the schools.
The Association meets once each term to receive reports from the Board, Principal and Business Manager and to discuss issues and direction concerned with the development of the school. The parents, through this means, shape the policies of the school. Matters determined by the Association or its Board include fee scales, school uniform, enrolment policy, class sizes, parent involvement and assistance to other Associations etc.
The Principal and teachers have responsibility for the planning and implementation of the teaching program. The day to day running of the school, choice of educational material and methodology of teaching are matters decided by the staff within the guidelines set by the Association through the Board, with special regard to maintaining the Christian basis of the schools.
Association Application form is available here for downloading. Application Form A copy of the Constitution is available from the school office. A list of current Association members is available at the front office for inspection.
