PiP News

Orange Christian School is founded firmly on the principle that Christian education relies on a dynamic partnership between the family and the school. We believe that the Bible gives parents the responsibility to raise and train their children, and therefore OCS enters into a partner relationship with our community of parents, to assist them in this important task.

In 2012 the school launched a new program to better facilitate the development of this partnership. The program is called Parents in Partnership (PiP) and is built on the schools  vision statement, developed in 2011.

To build community you need to have a clear vision, a common purpose, shared values and attitudes and clearly articulated goals. PiP is a program that we believe will assist our school families in growing closer through working on:

* common building and development projects;
* participation in education sessions to build greater understanding of what this partnership looks like;
* and spending time together to develop friendships between families, staff and board 
   
- in other words it will help develop greater ownership of the school vision and serve as an additional avenue for building relationships.

The program each year begins with an invitation for all new families, together with interested existing families, to attend PiP dessert evening early in term 1 to learn more about our school vision and the purpose of PiP. Other events will be held throughout the year.

PiP mornings replace the working bees which the school has traditionally used to bring the community together. The focus for these times will be to complete a community project, rather than complete a variety of maintenance jobs, which we believe will give a stronger sense of achievement and purpose to the families involved.  

The next PiP day will be 16 February 2013
